My First Artist Launch

Spring Launch 2024: Elemental Harmony: Water + Fire

Elemental Harmony: Water + Fire

This first collection, composed of two distinct parts, seamlessly blends the tranquility of water and the intensity of fire. A striking black and white palette amplifies the exploration of contrasts. Together, these opposing elements converge to create a harmonious whole, reflecting the dynamic interplay of nature’s forces.

Wave Series

The Wave collection pays homage to the dynamic nature of the majestic ocean. Each piece was meticulously sculpted to capture the essence of fluidity and transformation. The curves were thoughtfully shaped to catch the ever-changing interplay of light and shadow, creating a visual experience that evolves throughout the day.

Raku Series

I am particularly drawn to Raku because this ancient Japanese firing technique creates distinctive textures and crackle dripping with smoke and rawness. For this collection, I used tape and wax resist to create graphic patterns influenced by travels to Morocco and Japan. This additional step gives me some degree of creative control during an alternative firing process that is inherently unpredictable. And magical.

Organic Inspiration

I have a few pieces that didn'’t fall into the Wave or Raku series, but I had a strong urge to bring them to life. The common thread among these explorations is the intentional use of a limited black and white color palette.

Janette has a way of breathing soul into her forms that makes them come alive in your home.
— Jeannie, Opera Singer, Brooklyn, NY

I'm excited to share that the nine pieces below have found new homes, stretching from Arizona to New York and Texas to California. I’m grateful for the positive response to my very first Launch.

Post-Launch thoughts

Now that the dust has settled, I feel great! This journey has boosted my confidence in discussing my work, both in person and on camera.

After this whirlwind, I’m ready for a little break from social media and marketing. Taking some time to reflect will help me recharge and prepare for what’s next. I’m excited to apply these lessons into my future launches!

Janette Harwell

Design-driven with a global perspective, Janette Eusebio’s work is inspired by many forms of design: architecture, interior, and textile to name a few — and heavily influenced by a lifelong wanderlust that has taken her around the globe. She derives great joy from exploring the world with family and friends, continually pursuing new cultural experiences and art forms. Both her Filipino heritage and love of nature are featured prominently in her work.

Janette is particularly drawn to textures, patterns, and organic forms that have movement, which inspires pieces that are both bold and refined. Working in clay has been a meditative, grounding journey for her.

In 1990, Janette graduated with a BFA in Communication Design from Otis/Parsons, a private art and design school in Los Angeles, California. From 1990-1997 she lived and worked in New York City as a graphic designer before relocating to Phoenix, Arizona. In 2004, she founded Stir Design & Advertising, which she continues to oversee today.

Every day is a new opportunity to create. Janette is a visual storyteller who excels in capturing a sense of place, a memory, or a feeling.
